The Spiritual Significance of Salat

Apparently salat is a collection of a few verses which are recited in a particular manner but in reality it is to have the closeness and vision of Allah. When one attains the closeness and vision of Allah, only then does his salat become Miraj.

Salat is also a way of invocation of Allah.

Offering salat, fasting and performing hajj are a way to thank Allah for the blessing of physical body and its health.

Offering salat is a physical act but its spirit is to disconnect from everyone and everything and concentrate totally on Allah.

By mistake, some people believe that salat is merely standing in a specific posture at set times, bowing in a prescribed manner, prostrating on the ground and reciting specific verses and supplications in these positions. They have focused only on its ritualistic aspect. However, the reality is that salat is an etiquette of servitude to Allah, teaching the slave the way to remain in constant obedience to Him. In other words, if a person is successful in truly establishing salat, he will learn to submit to Allah in all the matters and then all the aspects of his life will become aligned to Allah's will.

You can offer salat by the method told by any of the four Islamic jurists but the soul of salat is the same and that is having Divine presence. This is the true salat of a believer.

The salat which is offered out of true love for Allah while having His vision, never makes one tired.
