The sacred bond between Creator and creation
Divine Covenant
Two covenants were taken in the realm of souls, one from all the souls and the other from the souls of Prophets.
Soul's Sustenance
At the time of Divine covenant, the souls were present before Allah, which means they were beholding Him. As stated in sura Al-Araf verse 172 of the Holy Quran, when Allah asked the souls, "Am I not your Lord (Sustainer)?" All the souls collectively replied, "Yes!" The question arises what was their source of sustenance? No doubt, it was the vision of Allah that sustained the souls.
Soul's Attributes
This conversation between Allah and souls proves that at the time of covenant, the souls had the power of hearing with which they heard Allah, the power of sight with which they were beholding Allah and the power of speech with which they replied to the question of Allah. Hence proved that the soul is a complete entity in itself with all these senses and that it is eternally connected to Allah Almighty.
Soul's Choices
At the time of Divine covenant some souls were really happy on promising "Yes" to Allah. These were the souls of Prophets, Saints, Mystics and believers. However some regretted it, these were the souls of non-Muslims, infidels and hypocrites. Then Allah tested the souls by showing them the beauties and charms of the world and paradise.
Divine Destiny
In the realm of souls, following the Divine covenant, whatever the souls chose; Allah, paradise or the world, they spend their worldly life just according to that. The Divine Pen began inscribing their destiny based on these inclinations after the covenant. This illustrates that humans have, in essence, written or shaped their own destinies.
Second Chance
Among the souls that chose the world or paradise, some later regretted their decision, realizing that they had made a mistake. At some point in their worldly life, Allah redirects these souls back to Him, on the basis of certain merits. For instance, those who practice pure generosity for the sake of Allah, those who genuinely love the People of Cloak and the Companions.
Divine Promise
The souls have been given another chance in this world to make up for the promise they broke in pre-existence. One should make the most of this and seek Allah rather than the world and paradise because Allah has promised, "He who seeks Me, finds Me."

عہد الست
عالم ارواح میں دو عہد لیے گئے تھے، ایک تمام ارواح سے اور دوسرا صرف انبیا کی ارواح سے۔
روح کی غذا
عہد الست کے وقت تمام ارواح ذاتِ حق تعالیٰ کے سامنے موجود تھیں اور اس کے دیدار میں محو تھیں۔ جب اللہ نے ان سے پوچھا ”کیا میں تمہارا ربّ (پالنے والا) نہیں؟“ (سورة الاعراف 172) تو سب ارواح نے یک زبان ہو کر کہا ” ہاں کیوں نہیں!“۔ اس وقت ارواح کو صرف اللہ پاک کا دیدار ہی مل رہا تھا، وہ اسی پر پل رہی تھیں یعنی روح کی غذا اللہ کا دیدار ہے۔
روح کی صفات
اس مکالمے سے یہ ثابت ہوتا ہے کہ اس وقت ارواح میں قوت سماعت بھی تھی جس سے انہوں نے اللہ کی بات کو سنا، قوتِ بصارت بھی تھی جس سے وہ اللہ کو دیکھ رہی تھیں اور قوتِ گویائی بھی تھی جس سے انہوں نے جواب دیا۔ لہٰذا اس آےت سے ثابت ہوتا ہے کہ روح میں یہ تمام حواس موجود ہیں اور اس کا ایک مکمل وجود ہے اور یہ بھی ثابت ہوتا ہے کہ روح کا ازلی و اصلی تعلق ذاتِ حق تعالیٰ سے ہے۔
ارواح کے انتخاب
بلیٰ کے اس عہد پرکچھ ارواح بہت خوش ہوئیںجو کہ انبیا، اولیا، فقرا اور مومنین کی ارواح تھیں لیکن کچھ یہ وعدہ کر کے پشیمان ہو گئیںجو کہ کافروں، مشرکوں اور منافقوں کی ارواح تھیں۔ اسکے بعد اللہ تعالیٰ نے ارواح کے سامنے دنیا اور جنت کی زیب و زینت پیش کر کے ان کی آزمائش کی۔ کچھ ارواح نے اپنا عہد توڑ کر دنیا کو چن لیا اور کچھ نے جنت کو۔
تقدیر الہی
ارواح نے ازل میں عہد ِالست کے وقت جو فیصلہ کیا دنیا میں آ کر بھی وہ اسی کے مطابق زندگی گزارتیں ہیں، یعنی دنیا کو چننے والے دنیا کی طرف مائل رہتے ہیں، جنت کو چننے والے جنت کی طرف اور اللہ سے اپنے عہد پر قائم رہنے والے اللہ کی طرف مائل رہتے ہیں۔ ازل میںجیسے ہی ارواح نے اپنا فیصلہ کر لیا اللہ کا قلم چلنا شروع ہو گیا۔ اپنی تقدیر انسان نے خود لکھی ہے، جو جو ارواح کرتی چلی گئیں، قلم لکھتا چلا گیا۔
دوسرا موقع
دنیا یا جنت کو چننے والی کچھ ارواح ایسی بھی تھیں جو بعد میں اپنے فیصلے پر پشیمان ہو گئیں کہ ہم سے غلطی ہو گئی۔ان کو اللہ دنیا میںکبھی نہ کبھی اپنی طرف بلا لیتا ہے اور اس کے لیے اللہ کے بہت سے پیمانے ہیں مثلاً جو خالص اللہ کے لیے سخاوت کرتا ہے، جو اہل ِبیتؓ اور صحابہ کرامؓسے سچی محبت کرتا ہے۔
وعدہ الہی
اگر عالم ِ ارواح میں عہد ِالست کو توڑنے کی لغزش ہوئی تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے عالم ِخَلق کو تخلیق کر کے اس خطا کو معاف کروانے کا ایک موقع دیا ہے۔ اس موقع سے فائدہ اٹھائیںاور دنیا و عقبیٰ کو فراموش کر کے اللہ تعالیٰ کی طرف متوجہ ہو جائیں کیونکہ اس کا وعدہ ہے ”جو مجھے طلب کر تا ہے وہ مجھے پا لیتا ہے۔“
