The concept of the creation of good and evil has always been a debatable issue amongst scholars. Both have their own peculiar reality. Allah Almighty did not create anything without purpose.
Inner Battle of Good and Evil
If evil had not existed then the reality and truth of good would not have become obvious. There is a perpetual battle between good and evil in this world and the same battle is going on within man. The victory of good in this combat elevates the person to the status of ‘Universal Divine Man.’ Conversely, if evil prevails, the person becomes the manifestation of Satan, infidel, polytheist, hypocrite, disobedient, sinner and arrogant upon his intellect and prayers. If good triumphs in this battle, the person becomes a complete manifestation of Divine compassion, a reflection of the Divine attributes and the representative of good.
Freedom to Choose
Both good and evil are indeed created by Allah but He also gave man the freedom to choose between them. If he chooses good, he will benefit from the compassion and beneficence of Allah but if he chooses evil then he would have to face wrath and punishment. Now it is up to man to decide
Intentions Define the Path
Every exoteric and esoteric reality has two aspects; good and evil. The truthfulness in the person’s intentions is directly proportional to the progress towards good while a hypocritical intention will lead towards evil. Eventually, this journey will reach their respective extremes.
Advancing Towards Good
The more a person advances towards good, the more his ties with evil will weaken
Use Inventions Wisely
Just as the inward of the person contains both good and evil likewise his inventions embody both positive and negative aspects. It is imperative to forsake the detrimental aspects and embrace the merits of these inventions.
Knowing Right from Wrong
Allah has endowed every man with the ability to discern between right and wrong. Mostly people, driven by fear or greed, deliberately incline towards the wrong path.
Inner Conflict of Thoughts
Two kinds of thoughts perpetually contend in our inward. The thought that becomes firm in our mind and heart is right, while the other is wrong.
Guidance vs. Deception
In addition to Satan and self, the spiritual guide also puts thoughts in the inward of the seeker. The thought that inclines towards the spiritual guide is right and which takes away from the spiritual guide is from Satan and self.
Power of Self-Accountability
Self-accountability means that the seeker distinguishes between the right and the wrong in such a way that he rejects the wrong thought which is from the self and follows the right thought which is obviously from Allah
Choose the Harder Right
If on the path of righteousness, the seeker gets two positive ideas then, of the two, he should follow the difficult one. Sometimes the easy idea comes from the self to mislead the seeker.

خیر و شر
تخلیق ِخیر وشر کا نظریہ ہمیشہ اہل ِعلم کے درمیان زیر ِبحث رہا ہے۔ خیر کی اپنی حقیقت ہے اور شر کی اپنی حقیقت۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے کچھ بھی بے مقصد پیدا نہیں فرمایا۔
اندرونی جنگ: خیر بمقابلہ شر
اگر شر نہ ہو تا تو خیر کی حقیقت یا حقانیت واضح نہ ہوتی۔ اس دنیا میں اور انسان کے وجود کے اندربھی خیر اور شر کی جنگ ہی جاری ہے جس میں کامیاب ہو کر ایک انسان، ’انسانِ کامل‘ بنتا ہے۔ اگر وجود کے اندر جاری اس جنگ میں شر اُس پر غالب آجائے تو وہ سراپا شیطان، کافر، مشرک، منافق، نافرمان، متکبر،اپنی عبادت پر نازاں، اپنے علم پر مغرور، بدکار اور نافرمان ہے۔ اگر اس جنگ میں خیر غالب آجائے تو وہ سرا پا رحمن ہے، اللہ تعالیٰ کی صفات سے متصف اور اللہ تعالیٰ کے رنگ میں رنگا ہوا خیر کا نمائندہ۔
انسان کا اختیار
یہ درست ہے کہ خیر اور شر اللہ تعالیٰ ہی کی تخلیق ہیں لیکن اللہ تعالیٰ نے انسان کو اختیار دیا ہے کہ وہ اِن دونوں میں سے جس کو مرضی اختیار کرلے۔ اگر خیر کی طرف جائے گا تو اللہ تعالیٰ کی رحمت اور فضل سے فیض یاب ہوگا اور اگر شر کی طرف جائے گا تو قہر و غضب کا شکار ہوگا۔ اب فیصلہ انسانوں کے ہاتھوں میں ہے۔
نیت کا اثر
ظاہر کے بھی دو پہلو ہیں اور باطن کے بھی۔ خیر و شر۔ جتنا نیت میں صدق اور خلوص ہوگا اتنی ہی خیر کی جانب ترقی ہوگی اور جتنا نیت میں نفاق ہوگا اتنا ہی بندہ شر کی جانب بڑھے گا۔ بالآخر دونوں اپنی اپنی انتہاؤں کو پہنچ جائیں گے۔ جتنا خیر کی طرف بڑھو، شر کے رشتے ٹوٹتے جاتے ہیں۔
خیر کی طرف سفر
جتنا خیر کی طرف بڑھو، شر کے رشتے ٹوٹتے جاتے ہیں۔
ایجادات میں خیر و شر
جس طرح انسان کے اندر خیر و شر موجود ہے اسی طرح اس کی ہر ایجاد میں بھی خیر اور شر موجود ہے۔ اس ایجاد کے شر کو چھوڑ دینا چاہیے اور خیر کو اپنا لینا چاہیے۔
صحیح و غلط کی پہچان
اللہ تعالیٰ نے ہر انسان کو صحیح اور غلط میں پہچان کرنے کی طاقت دی ہوئی ہے۔ انسان کسی ڈریا لالچ کی وجہ سے جانتے بوجھتے خود غلط کی طرف راغب ہو جاتا ہے۔
دل کے دو خیال
ہر معاملے میں دل میں دو خیال چلتے رہتے ہیں۔ جس خیال پر دل اٹک جائے وہ صحیح ہے اور جس پر دل نہ ٹھہرے وہ غلط۔
رہنمائی اور دھوکہ
مرشد کامل بھی دل میں خیال ڈالتا ہے اور نفس و شیطان بھی۔جو خیال مرشد کی طرف لے کر جائے وہ صحیح ہے اور جو مرشد سے دور کرے وہ نفس اور شیطان کی طرف سے۔
محاسبۂ نفس
محاسبہ ئنفس یہ ہے کہ انسان صحیح اور غلط میں ایسے فرق کرے کہ جو خیال نفس کی طرف سے ہے اُسے ردّ کر دے اور جو اللہ کی طرف سے ہے اُس پر عمل کرے۔
مشکل راہ کا انتخاب
اگر طالب صراطِ مستقیم پر ہے اور اسے دو مثبت خیال آئیں تو پھر اسے ان خیالوں میں سے مشکل خیال پر عمل کرنا چاہیے کیونکہ آسان خیال بھی بعض دفعہ نفس کی طرف سے گمراہ کرنے کے لیے آتا ہے۔
"جتنا خیر کی طرف بڑھو، شر کے رشتے ٹوٹتے جاتے ہیں۔"
