GREED OR AVARICE
The excessive desire for wealth and possessions
Greed or Avarice
The desire to accumulate more than necessary wealth is called greed or avarice. Earning money to fulfil the needs of one's family does not qualify as greed. Allah Himself orders to earn for the family but within the prescribed limits of sharia. However, if someone remains preoccupied with constant thoughts of earning to the extent of forgetting Allah then this is greed. A greedy individual remains perpetually discontent, irrespective of the wealth he amassed.

Greed makes man forget the difference between legitimate and illegitimate.

Greed is not limited to wealth and property only, it may be for food, beauty, home, health, women, clothes, power or high ranks. Greed grips the inward of a person and makes him wishful to gather these things in greater amount and better form. This desire induces him to use illegal means and takes him towards disaster.

Greed and covetousness are the major weapons wielded by Satan to divert people from the path of Faqr. Satan's tactic is that initially he creates a strong desire in a person which grips his inward. Consequently, the person remains focused on fulfilling it and becomes oblivious to Allah.

طمع و حرص
ضرورت سے زےادہ مال و دولت جمع کرنے کی خواہش طمع ےا حرص کہلاتی ہے۔ اہل و عیال کی جائز ضروریات کو رزقِ حلال سے پورا کرنا لالچ، طمع یا حرص نہیں ہے بلکہ اس کا حکم تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے خود دیا ہے لیکن شریعت نے مال و دولت حاصل کرنے کی ایک حد مقرر کی ہے۔ اگر ہر وقت دل و دماغ پر دولت کمانے کی دھن سوار رہے حتیٰ کہ انسان اللہ کو بھی بھلا بیٹھے تو یہ طمع و حرص ہے۔ ایسا شخص خواہ کتنی بھی دولت جمع کر لے مطمئن نہیں ہوتا بلکہ پریشان ہی رہتا ہے۔

لالچ انسان کو حرام و حلال کا فرق بھلا دیتا ہے۔

حرص، لالچ یا طمع صرف مال و دولت اور جائیداد کی نہیں ہوتی بلکہ کھانے پینے، حسن، صحت، گھر، عورت، لباس، حکومت یا عہدہ کی بھی ہوسکتی ہے۔ حرص پہلے قلب میں جاگزیں ہوتی ہے اور لالچی انسان کے دل میں ان چیزوں کو زیادہ سے زیادہ اور بہتر سے بہتر صورت میں حاصل کرنے کی خواہش ڈیرہ ڈال لیتی ہے۔ یہی خواہش اسے جائز سے ناجائز ذرائع کی طرف لے جاتی ہے اور مصائب میں مبتلا کر دیتی ہے۔

قناعت میں سکون اور بے نیازی ہے جبکہ طمع میں بے سکونی، بے چینی اور پریشانی ہے۔

جب تک قلب میں طمع اور لالچ رہتا ہے اسم j ذات قرار نہیں پکڑتانہ ہی اللہ کا قرب و معرفت حاصل ہوتا ہے۔

مومن کا وقت اللہ کے بارے میں تفکر کرنے میں گزرتا ہے اور منافق کا سارا وقت حرص و لالچ کی نذر ہو جاتا۔

فقیر کے لیے لازم ہے کہ وہ ایک دن یا ایک ماہ سے زائد کا اہتمام نہ کرے۔اس سے زائد سے طویل امیدوں کی طرف راغب ہوگا توقناعت ختم ہو جائے گی اور وہ حرص و طمع ہو گی۔

طمع یا حرص شیطان کا بہت بڑا آلہ ہے جس کے ذریعہ وہ لوگوں کو راہِ حق سے گمراہ کرتا ہے۔ اس کا طریقہ واردات یہ ہے کہ پہلے وہ انسان کے دل میں کسی خواہش کو شدت سے ابھارتا ہے، جب یہ خواہش اُس کے دل کو اپنے قبضے میں لے لیتی ہے تو اسے پورا کرنے کے لیے انسان اللہ کو بھلا کر رات دن ایک کر دیتا ہے۔

جو لوگ اللہ کا قرب پانے کے لیے دن رات ورد وظائف، تسبیحات اور چلہ کشی میں مصروف رہتے ہیں وہ جان لیں کہ جب تک دل لالچ اور حرص سے پاک نہیں ہوگا اور نفس کا تزکیہ نہیں ہو گا اللہ کا قرب و وصال حاصل ہونا ناممکن ہے۔
